 Dental diseases

 How does a toothless cat eat?


 Most cats without teeth or with few teeth can eat well and naturally. The teeth are mainly used for grasping and cutting food rather than chewing and grinding and they help the papillary appendages on the cat’s tongue to push the food inside the mouth to swallow it.


 And the case of cats is like the case of humans who avoid eating and chewing food in the mouth area with infected teeth, as cats in this case use their tongues to move food inside the mouth and eat it without chewing.



 


 What foods should you feed your little or toothless cat?


 Canned food is one of the foods that are recommended to toothless cats, however, some cats continue to eat cooked foods using their tongues, which they use as a scoop to eat, while some cats prefer cooked food that is of a comfortable texture that is easy to eat more than canned food.  Mixing a little cooked food with canned food to create a greater consistency that some cats can eat.
